Over 20,000 pets are surrendered to our municipal animal shelters every year. We're here to help. But, it's not simply a matter of providing food to needy pet owners. It's also important to ensure they have support and resources. In 2016, we were able to assist 170 pets directly with our programs, and we were able to refer 54 pets to other organizations for assistance.
For $15 a month: We are able to provide a vaccine to a cat or dog, a 13lbs bag of dry cat or dog food or cat wet food for a month to an existing pet in our programs!

If your pet is in need of Emergency Veterinary Care (examples: bleeding, non stop vomiting, not eating and lethargy). Contact the ASPCA (open 8:30am-4pm) or the AMC (open 24hrs) for their programs and services. Do not wait for a response!

We've got many successes under our belt, but we need more help, and that's where you come in. Help us keep more loved pets in their home and out of the shelter.

Access to information and accessible care is crucial to a pet's wellbeing. It reduces their chance to be relinquished to the municipal animal shelter.First, please check out our Resources page for articles on how to care for your pet.
Veterinary Assistance:
Healthy Pets Project of NYC Inc., may be able to provide Veterinary assistance for your pet, but cases are reviewed thoroughly. Unfortunately we can not help all cases that contact us. You may be referred to other veterinary hospitals/clinics.
Pet Food: On a case by case basis, we may provide a Food Package to pet owners in need. Others will be referred to other organizations in NYC area.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: After 10 years of operations, this year- 2024, will be our last year operations.Thank you to the many friends, donors and supporters that allowed us to serve our beloved NYC residents.
Healthy Pets Project of NYC, Inc. was created in order to help pet owners in crisis care and keep their pet companions at home.
We are a group of individuals that believe strongly and wholeheartedly in the bond between a human and a companion pet. Each pet and each person has a unique story, and they deserve our support.
We want to take the stigma off pet owners that even though they love their pet, sometimes they just can't afford NYC Veterinary care.
By providing pet owner support, services and education, we want to prevent owners from surrendering their companion pets to our municipal shelter. Our goal is to diminish the number of homeless and abandoned pets in New York City.
